West Coast Living

is the title of a new bi-monthly vintage and interiors fair that has been set up in Argyll.  B& I went to the first one where I was so excited about everything there - I wanted to take it ALL home - that I forgot to take photographs even though the camera was hanging from my shoulder!
But at the second one, held on Easter Sunday, I not only remembered to take photographs I had a table!  A mixture of artwork, craft work and vintage china etc.  It was right up my street and I loved every second of it once I had allowed myself to relax!  I had been very nervous about it, had I made enough, was what I had made good/nice enough?  Would my table look like a jumble sale?  I had stayed up until 2.30am the night before finishing things off then up at 6.30am to pack up the car for the second time and head off up to Ardfern.
Last minute panics and looking at things to try to work out just how much we should charge.  I'd say one price B would say another and we would settle somewhere in between!  B was a star and helped hugely.  At various times during the day it was pandemonium!  There were SO many people there, I must remember to find out just how many.

Setting up in the morning, still unpacking boxes!

Phew! Ready. Don't think I thought I would ever get to this point!

A corner of my table.
At the back is a collage/montage of photographs of times past by dad the cushions & tea cosies by me! With some vintage enamel, tins and china, and card and mounted photographs too. It was all going on on here!

A basket of cushions and cushion covers.
I love the white on white embroidered, and drawn thread work linens. Tray cloths I had remade into cushions, I was almost cross to sell one of the cushions, the little one in the middle, as I really wouldn't have minded taking it home again!

I loved this little gravy boat, pale spring green with pink roses, which I planted up with bright yellow pansies, someone else did to as it sold quite early on!
I planted up a couple of pieces of china with pansies and primulas, one lady said I had inspired her so she bought a pudding basin (like the one I had planted a primula in) from someone elses table so that she could do the same thing.  I pointed out that she could have brought mine already done for her!  Hey ho!

Walking in to the hall felt as though we had walked into a Country Living type magazine photo set up!

Some of the other fabulous items. I just wanted to move in, well there was a bed or perhaps the chaise....

There was sooo much I'd have liked to take home with me.  In fact we were terribly restrained, I simply couldn't resist a little blue  white stripy bowl and simply didn't care it had a crack in it!   B brought a book & a lovely large willow heart made by a local girl, for our new bedroom (ahh!).  We also got a lovely china hen dish as mum and dads Easter 'egg' and mum bought us a beautiful white, French,  Limoges lidded sauce dish.

So we came home tired but happy having seen lots of lovely people, some we knew, some we didn't and some we hope to meet again.  Definitely thinking about doing it again next time.

I may be gone for a bit as we move house tomorrow or at least we start to move house tomorrow!  I also lose my sewing room/studio and won't have another one for a while. Not sure How I'm going to cope!  However I will have enough to distract me for a while, settling in to the new house and making, or altering, curtains!

So more anon and a very happy if rather belated Easter!

Hello & welcome....

.... to my newly relaunched blog!
I didn't make any New Year resolutions but I did make a series of decisions, one of them being to be a bit more serious about my craft and art work, to open an Etsy shop, to have a CK Originals Facebook page (do pop by and say hello!), to attend craft fairs locally and perhaps in Glasgow though I need to go on some fact finding missions first, and to relaunch this blog which has been very neglected for a couple of years.
So to start with I thought I would set out my stall with a seasonal collection of scented hearts and cards in time for Valentines day (hence the hearts background it won't be like this all the time!)
